Notes
This a large book, for a biography. It is oversize and runs to nearly 800 pages. Pulteney commanded III Corps from the early days at Mons right through to the aftermath of Cambrai, as a result of which he was moved to command of XXIII Corps in England. This is a meticulously researched and written book by a professional soldier whose high rank will have enabled him to understand Pulteney all the better.
