Notes
No author's name is given in this book, most notably the flyleaf: save that the spine of the book indicates the author's name as "Black Tab", whatever that means. This story starts with the transport of the Poona Division, part of the Indian Army, from India to Basra, in November/December of 1914. The author was clearly an officer. This is a somewhat different story to most of those written about Mesopotamia. First, it is written in a sort of "Boys Own Paper" style. The author clearly regarded his time in this Theatre of War as something of an adventure. Secondly, during his time there he was sent into Persia, so some light is shed upon what was happening there. And finally, he was clearly part of, or at least associated with, the Relief Force trying to Rescue Townshend in Kut. This is a First Edition.
