Notes
This book is a First Edition. Following his wounding on the Western Front, Bairnsfather had come to be recognised by the War Office as a definitely positive asset who should not be sent back to the Front, but instead used for publicity. This book, then, is his story about what happened to him - being posted to various training and other camps in the UK, then sent to spend time with allied armies, notably the French and then the Americans. Bairnsfather's notes on his experiences are most valuable, especially his views of our allies. The Americans were especially highly thought of by Bairnsfather.
