Notes
This book was jointly published by Seaforth in the UK and Oratio in Auckland, New Zealand. There is a Foreword by Nick Jellicoe. H.M.S. New Zealand was a gift by the Government of New Zealand to the Empire, in the shape of a battlecruiser. The ship was completed in 1912, and undertook a World Tour in 1913. It then served in the war as part of the Battlecruiser Fleet. It took part in all three of the major engagements in the North Sea - Heligoland, Dogger Bank, and Jutland. It did not survive the war by more than a few years, being broken up in the early Twenties. This book tells its story, something of a microcosm of the Dreadnought Era.
