Notes
This book was translated from the Turkish by Dexter H. Mursaloglu. This book is exactly what it says it is in the title. The author describes it as a handbook of Modern Turkish History to meet the needs of general readers and students. But it is actually rather better than that might indicate. For students of the war, and particularly "its global consequences", as the strap-words to our Collection's title put it, the book is very valuable in that it is a well written and interesting story of Turkey, featuring the periods both before and after the war which are so important to our understanding of that region of the world.
