Notes
This book was translated by Ethan Rudell. There is a Foreword by John Horne. The book was first published in French in 2016 by Editions Fayard. This little book is a complete overview of the Battle of the Somme from the British point of view, as written by a French amateur military historian. It concentrates heavily on the First Day of the Battle of The Somme, although it does address the rest of the Battle if somewhat briefly. In some ways, it would be a very good start for a serious student approaching the Battle for the first time.
