Notes
This book has no less than three Introductions, by Major-General L.C. Dunsterville, General Sir G. Milne, and Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Harrington. There is also a "General Introduction" by Admiral Sir Percy Scott. The book covers Rawlinson's experiences in Persia, the Transcaspian Area including Baku, Salonika, Constantinople, and Batoum; The Caucasus, Eastern Anatolia, the Russo-Turkish Frontier, then a final spell in Kemalist Turkey from October 1919 to November 1922, including imprisonment. As such this is a gem of a book for the Collection, with our great interest in this period and geography. The book was formerly part of the library of H.N. Schofield V.C. (won in the South African War).
