Notes
This is a reprint of a book originally published in 1915, so it was fairly early on in the war. It is stated to be Volume One. There are eleven "chapters", which are stories told by the actual participants. It is worth setting out the titles, because in the category of "Personal Accounts", we are pretty selective about what we acquire, there are so many of this type of book, but in our opinion this one is special: The titles are: "The Three Torpedoed Cruisers"; "The Runaway Raiders"; "Campaigning With The Highlanders"; "Transport Driving"; "British Gunners as Cave-Dwellers"; "With The Fighting Fifth"; "The Victory of The Marne"; "An Armoured Car In Ambush"; "Exploits Of The London Scottish"; "The Rout Of The Prussian Guard At Ypres"; "The British Victory At Neuve Chapelle"; and "Sixteen Weeks of Fighting".
