Notes
This is the story of British Theatre during the War, on a year by year basis. The author was someone who was both a professional journalist and a former performer; this shows in what is a book full of information, including many images, so is useful for research, but it is also a very good read. We are a research collection, and as such it is our mission to cover every aspect of our subject. Theatre made a very substantial contribution to the war effort, both for those at home and also for troops on leave, particularly in London. The book is therefore quite a key item in our "Home Front" category.
