This is a collection of 13 separate essays by academics (and possibly others) on war posters, with an obvious bias to American posters, this being a book edited by an American academic and published by an American University press. However, that should not dim the reader's enthusiasm. This is not the sort of book we imagined it to be before we saw it, there are 53 illustrations, it is true, but they are all quite small and every one of them is in monochrome. Most of the book is text which makes this - a book about posters - quite unusual. It is really more of an academic study into the rationale behind posters in the war.
