There is a Foreword by Smuts himself. This Foreword is dated February 1918 so we suppose that this was (more or less) the date of publication. However, there is no record of the original publisher; although this is another of Naval & Military's excellent facsimile copies, they have not included the original fly-sheet. The book was re-published in association with Firepower at the Royal Artillery Museum, Woolwich. This book is a useful companion to the books we have in the Collection describing the campaign from the German side.
