Notes
This is Volume 1 of this work. The whole work deals with the disarmament of Germany following the war, and then the rearming, leading up to the outbreak of World War Two. Volume 1 deals with the disarmament and whether or not Volume 2 will eventually make an appearance in The Collection depends on fate but we suspect that it is this first volume , reviewed here, that we need in The Collection, and not necessarily the second. The book was written at the suggestion of Marshal Foch. It was commenced in 1924, but suspended by the scenario induced by the Pact of Locarno in 1925. But when, ten years later, Germany threw off the mask which was being used to hoodwink the world about its true position, the book was recommenced. By then, Foch was dead, so the Preface was written by Weygand, but then events interfered with that plan, and the Preface was actually written by Lieutenant-General Sir G.W. MacDonough, late Adjutant-General. This is a most interesting, and relevant, book written by one who was present. It is thoroughly recommended.
