Notes
This book was part of the Smithsonian History of Aviation Series, Series Editor Von Hardesty. The book was first published in the U.S. by Smithsonian Institution Press. This is a fairly monumental book which starts in 1909 with the beginning of military aviation and the aviation industry, and ends with their catastrophic contraction. It examines the totality of the air war - its heroism, romantic myths, politics, strategies and cost in men and materiel. Morrow also addresses the advancements in aircraft and engine technology and production during the period covered.
