Notes
This is a book on an unusual subject, in fact it is the first book in our "Archaeology of the Battlefields" category. It deals with one battlefield, the area of Messines Ridge. The book has many photographs, both of the current countryside and what the archaeologists were doing there, and from the period of the war. It paints a broad, understandable, picture of the area and what was happening in it, and how it relates to what is being found currently, both on a casual basis and as a result of highly organised projects such as this one. Overall, a most interesting book. The book was co-authored by Richard Osgood.
