Notes
We have placed this book in the "Tunnelling" Category as opposed to "Biographies", since the book is really centred around Norton-Griffiths' tunnelling expertise - as someone who had made his money in the minefields of South Africa. The book also covers his exploits in "firing" the oilfields of Rumania. Anne Morgan, the co-author, was Norton-Griffiths' grand-daughter, and this book is the product of intense research she had carried out on her relative. There is a very good description of the laying and exploding of the mines on the Messines Ridge in 1917. The first 100 pages of the book are about the life of the man before he came to his Great War role. They make for vibrant reading, given the nature of the subject.
