Notes
The book was co-authored by Eric Partridge, who owned the publishing company. This is a wonderful book. Half of it is songs and ballads, the other half is definitions of slang words used by the troops. The book was written when mores were rather stricter than they are these days, but nevertheless the authors manage to get the message across more than adequately, while keeping within the then bounds of respectability. Some of their comments appear to be ever so slightly "tongue in cheek". Absolutely highly recommended.
