Notes
There is a Foreword by T/Lieutenant-Colonel Lord Somers, DSO, MC, who was a member of the Battalion. (There is a photograph of him in the book). He explains how the History came to be put together. This is a valuable addition to the Regimental Histories in the Collection. It was written in 1919, when memories were very fresh, and describes the formation of the unit in late 1916, then the battles in which the battalion took part - Third Ypres, Cambrai, then Kaiserschlacht, through to Amiens, and The Last Hundred Days. Interestingly, the battalion used, at least in part, Whippets, and there are some very interesting references to that variety of early tank.
