This is the N & M reprint of the original, which was published in 1920 by MacMillan and Co Ltd, London. As always with N & M reprints, this is a faithful copy of the original, which (even if one could be traced) would be horrendously expensive. We generally take the view that it is more effective to take these N & M reprints into The Collection, although of course we do have many First Editions, most of which have been bought judiciously. There is an Introduction by Lieutenant-General The Earl of Cavan. Maps are by Mr. Emery Walker. This history was written very soon after the war's end, and in places this shows. But it was written and researched against a background of recent memory, so it is a good set of books on one of the elite regiments of the BEF. This is Volume 1, which covers the period from the beginning of the war to September 1916.
