This is a fairly technical book written by an ex professional soldier, who very obviously knows his stuff. Nevertheless, and despite the detail into which the book goes, it is still very readable. As a study of the fortress mentality which was proved to be, overall, fairly useless - but which nonetheless bought some little time for the Allies at the war's beginning - it is a valuable addition to the Collection.
