Arthur Currie: The Biography of a Great Canadian
ISBN
Purchase Price
£25.00 (second hand)
Date Purchased

Publisher
J.M. Dent & Sons (Canada) Ltd (1950, Toronto & Vancouver)
Notes
The book has a Foreword by Field Marshal Jan Christian Smuts. This is the first biography of Currie to appear in the Collection. (Are there any more?). It is long overdue given the importance of the Canadian Corps in relation to the Western Front. It is a well written story, even if the language used is somewhat dated, but then it is a book which was published well over half a century ago. The book was purchased in McLeod's Antiquarian and Secondhand Bookshop in downtown Vancouver, apparently legendary in Canada and rightly so. It is a treasure trove of all sorts of books, but the bonus is that Don Stewart, the owner, is a student of the war and he has what sounds a very impressive archive on the Intervention phase of the Russian Revolution.
