This book is a gem, it starts with Chivers Davies' voyage from the UK to Salonika, with stops on the way. From Salonika she moved up into the Balkans by stages. Eventually, the tide turned against the Serbs and she and her colleagues were captured by the Austrians. They were repatriated via Switzerland and arrived back in the UK in February 1916. There are some vivid descriptions of the countryside of the Balkans, of the various nationalities she came across - and the hardships suffered by that region generally in this period of the war. This is a First Edition.
