Notes
First Edition. In two volumes, with original dust jackets, extremely good condition. This is the original, authorised(presumably - the book was written 36 years before the Hough "Authorised" work) biography of Fisher, written by a fellow sailor who himself enjoyed an illustrious career but who also worked with Fisher during that career. True, the style is dated, but the book is invaluable as it remains the authorised biography. The Foreword (by Bacon) is itself well worth reading. Politicians have, obviously, not changed over the years: particularly Bacon's views about Churchill would probably have him executed for treason today, but of course in the context they deserve to be taken seriously.
