This book is not about the Great War, but given the Collection's emphasis on looking at the position of the Ottoman Empire/Turkey in the war, and how the outcome of that country's participation in the war influenced our modern world in such a strong way, it is right that the events leading to that country's entry into the war should be studied. The Italo-Ottoman War of 1911-1912 has received scant attention from historians, mostly passing comments, and this book, therefore, must be regarded as an important contribution to the greater picture. The book is well written, there are plentiful and good maps, and also plenty of interesting photographs.
