This is the story about the Mont Blanc, a ship carrying explosives - TNT, gun cotton, wet and dry picric acid, and benzol - for the French Government. It was in transit between New York and France. At 9.05 a.m. on 6th December 1917 the ship blew up, causing complete devastation, killing more than 1,600 people instantly and wounding 9,000 more. Major damage was caused to the centre of the city of Halifax. This is the story of that disaster, and how a Canadian city recovered. The book was previously published in 1989.
