Notes
This is a story about a fictional naval officer serving in a fictional "C" class cruiser called Cassiopeia, and its voyage in immediate post war times through the Mediterranean, starting at Santander and progressing to Turkey, specifically Chanak and also Smyrna at the time the Turks were laying waste to that city. Despite the book being "fictional", it is clearly based on someone's experiences - presumably the author himself - and as such it gives a small but valuable insight into what was happening in parts of the old Ottoman Empire, the new Turkey, in the immediate post war years.
