Notes
This is a very interesting book. Herwig had German antecedents, and he has written the story of the Battle of The Frontiers and The Battle of The Marne as much from a German standpoint as from the Allies, in fact there is a definite emphasis on the German side of the story. Thia separates this book from most of the other studies of the opening weeks of the war, and therefore it underlines the book's importance and relevance in this Collection.
