Fortescue Duguid was Director of the Historical Section, General Staff. Maps and sketches were compiled and drawn by Captain J I P Neal, RCE. The volume comprises the Appendices, in the text, with 14 Maps in a case at the back of the volume. All the maps are in near perfect condition. This volume states that it deals with the Outbreak of War, 4th August 1914 - the Raising of the First Contingent - The Crossing to England - the Winter on Salisbury Plain - the 1st Canadian Division - at Festubert and Givenchy - also with other Canadian Forces raised and sent Overseas prior to the formation of the Canadian Corps on 13th September 1915.
